Rebuilding Social Tools for the New School Year

  • meeting held via Zoom with preregistration (map)

Presented by the Annette Eskind Institute of Learning at Currey Ingram Academy

Preregistration required at https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_5cec964US9-AI5O2vWUfKg

Students are approaching this school year with the impact of last year's pandemic. Once again, they are facing a new year filled with unknowns, which inherently influences their social relationships. Therefore, is it anxiety or a social (pragmatic) communication disorder or both that significantly impact their ability to build relationships with others? Through participation in this seminar, participants will expand their understanding of how anxiety can impact students' social and communication abilities. Parents and teachers will demonstrate improved ability in recognizing anxiety & social (pragmatic) communication disorder in students. There will also be a discussion on how we, as speech-language pathologists and other professionals, can treat social (pragmatic) communication disorders with an anxiety component. Various therapeutic strategies and resources for the student, parent, and teacher will be provided.

Presented by Kristin Davis, MS, CCC-SLP
