Please join us Monday, January 23rd at 11:30 for our first in-person meeting since February 2020! We’ll meet in the auditorium on the ground floor of the Williamson County Administrative Building (the school board meeting room).
Our presenter, Deb Finch will discuss the process of building the strengths of kids and their parents alike. Mrs. Finch will guide us to focus on building children’s self-concept and self-advocacy. This empowers them to know their motivations and talents and to have their support system believe in the steps gifted learners will take on their academic, social, and emotional journey.
Debora Finch earned her B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy from Union College (NY) and her M.Ed. from Vanderbilt University in Human Development Counseling. Mrs. Finch enters her 20th year as a school counselor and counselor educator. She has served all levels (K-12) in Williamson County Schools throughout her tenure and is currently a school counselor at Mill Creek Elementary School. Counselor education, advocacy, and talent development are core interests in her professional work. She has taught college and graduate students all three of these areas at Vanderbilt and Belmont and currently enjoys being a guest lecturer at the collegiate level. In the area of gifted education, Mrs. Finch has advocated for gifted learners by developing parent support groups, which she has facilitated in Vanderbilt’s Program for Talented Youth since 2007. At all angles of her work with students and adults, she infuses her training as a Clifton Strengthsfinder consultant and recognizes talent development at the heart of developmental growth.
