Please join WillCoGS (Williamson County Gifted Support) on Thursday, October 17th from 5:30-6:30 pm in the Pearre Creek Elementary School Library for our monthly meeting, (look for the WillCoGS signs). This is the first of our two evening meetings for this school year.

As always, we hope that all family members, educators, and concerned citizens interested in our subject matter will visit our meetings. Our October meeting information is below:

Julie Roberts Boggess is an elementary librarian at Pearre Creek Elementary School in Franklin, TN. She enjoys working with elementary and middle school students in Saturday and summer programs offered by the Center for Gifted Studies at Western Kentucky University. Julie has earned a masters in elementary education with an emphasis on gifted education and a second masters in library media studies. She has published two books with her mother, Dr. Julia Roberts: Teacher's Survival Guide: Gifted Education and Differentiating Instruction with Centers in the Gifted Classroom.


Books Aren’t Just For Reading

Julie Roberts Boggess will speak on the following topics proving that books are wonderful tools to help children grow.

Just Right Books: Finding the right book for an advanced reader can be quite a challenge.

Bibliotherapy: Using books to help with the social-emotional needs of a gifted child.

Fostering a Love of Books: Helping children learn to love reading for pleasure and not just to complete an assignment.
