Meet us at the WCS Central Office in Franklin in the 1st Floor Training Room (look for the WillCoGS signs).
Special guest Melissa Dick from Destination Imagination:
Your kids want somewhere they can talk about the new Doctor Who, or the intricacies of the Marvel Universe, as well as the latest on the discovery of 26 more moons around Jupiter, how a cantilevered bridge system works, or the poem they just wrote (in dactylic pentameter). They REALLY want somewhere they can have fun, make friends, and be themselves.
Welcome to Destination Imagination!
Join us as Melissa Dick (TNDI board member and 9x Team Manager) shares how to get involved with Destination Imagination, a STEAM-based Challenge program for students from kindergarten through college. Teams of 2-7 students pick a challenge, and bring their unique solution to Regional, State and Global tournaments. Along the way, they learn "21st Century Skills"--Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Problem Solving--the very skills that colleges and employers today say they value most, according to media like Edutopia and Forbes. More than that, they get to stretch their wings, try new things, show off their areas of interest, have fun and make lifelong friends.
Many Williamson County Schools include Destination Imagination in their clubs. If your school does not, you can take the idea to the principal, or simply form a team on your own. Homeschool students and parents also love DI.
